Accessibility

Netstore is committed to providing a website that is available to and inclusive of all visitors regardless of their location, internet experience and the type of technology used. If you have any comments or suggestions regarding this website, please let us know by emailing: marketing@netstore.co.uk

We’ve developed the Netstore website in line with the priority levels 1 and 2 of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Website Content Accessibility Guidelines version 1.0 (WCAG 1.0).

This section outlines some of the steps we have taken to provide a site that is accessible to all, the features that we have provided for users and guidance on how to use them. Please refer to your web browser and operating system 'Help' for their additional accessibility features.

Design

The Netstore website has been optimised to be viewed at a screen resolution of 1024 x 800 within Internet Explorer 6 or later, Netscape 7.0 or later, Firefox 1.0 or later.

For a richer graphical experience, your browser will need to have the latest free Flash Player plug-in installed. No content is exclusively available through this route. Links have been provided in each flash movie to stop/start and turn sound off/on where appropriate.

We have used colour combinations that ensure appropriate colour contrast. All pages on this site use cascading style sheets for design and visual layout, which can be replaced with the user’s own style sheet using browser controls, in

Internet Explorer:

  1. Open the Tools menu with the mouse or by pressing Alt+t
  2. Select the Internet Options item with the mouse or by pressing o
  3. Click on the Accessibility button or press Tab followed by e.

Opera

  1. Open the Tools menu with the mouse or by pressing Alt+t
  2. Select the Preferences option with the mouse or by pressing r
  3. Click on the Advanced tab or use the keyboard combination Shift+Ctrl+Tab
  4. Select Content with the mouse or by using the up and down arrow keys
  5. Click on the Style options… button or Tab to it and then press Enter
  6. Select a Default mode of User mode and browse to the relevant style sheet.

A separate print style has been developed and you can therefore easily print every page of the website.

We have used a common accessible design throughout this web site rather than providing text only pages.

Text alternatives

All content images used have descriptive alternative text. Where an image is purely decorative the alternative text attribute has been left empty. We have provided written descriptions for charts, graphs and complicated diagrams with the intention of clearly communicating their meaning to all website users.

Font sizes

All text sizes within the content pages and navigation have been set to relative sizes, which can be increased or decreased for more comfortable screen reading. These can be altered in your web browser:

Ctrl (Command Key for Mac users) with + to increase font size, Ctrl (Command Key for Mac users) with - to decrease font size (Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox) OR

  1. Open the View menu with the mouse or by pressing Alt+v.
  2. Select the Text Size (Internet Explorer/Netscape/Firefox) or Text Zoom (Mozilla) option with the mouse or by pressing x (Internet Explorer/Netscape), z (Mozilla) or s, s, then Enter (Firefox).
  3. Choose your preferred text size with the mouse or by using the up and down arrow keys and pressing Enter.

Navigation

The key website navigation links are ‘Solutions’, ‘Services’, ‘Clients’, ‘Partners’, ‘Investors’, ‘Contact Us’,  ‘About Us’ and ‘News’. This primary navigation is supported by the left hand navigation that allows users to access deeper content areas. All navigation items are provided in text for improved readability. The navigation has been designed to be as user-friendly as possible, but it is also possible to access pages of the site by using:

  • Search – available below the main navigation
  • Quicklinks – dropdown menu available below the main navigation
  • Site map – link provided in the footer of each page
  • Header structure

Header structure

The structure of every page within the website is communicated using headers and sub headers.

Visitors using recent versions of screen readers can navigate using the following keystrokes:

  • H to cycle forwards through the headings
  • Shift + H to cycle backwards through the headings
  • 1 to navigate to the next level 1 heading (or a number between 1 and 6 to navigate to the next heading on this level)
  • Shift + 1 to navigate to the previous level 1 heading (or a number between 1 and 6 to navigate to the previous heading on this level)
  • INSERT + F6 to provide a list of all headings

In Opera, the following keys can be used to navigate headings:

  • S to cycle forwards through the headings
  • W to cycle backwards through the headings

PDF files

The website does include a number of PDF files, which have been created in accessible PDF format – fully tagged - wherever possible. There are some legacy PDF documents that we have been unable to provide in an accessible format. In order to view PDF documents, we recommend that the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader is used. It can be downloaded here: http://www.adobe.com. For further information about Adobe's PDF accessibility, please visit: http://access.adobe.com.

Plain English

Where possible we try to make sure that we use straightforward and jargon-free content within our website. Netstore intends that the user is able to read, understand and act upon it, the first time they read it.
